Work in progress

03.07.2014

- Went to the archives and photographed the documents I found about the factory
- Photographed interiors and reached the conclusion that it's not what I'm after in this project
- I have to be careful not to focus on buildings which have nothing to do with post-industrialim (for example the church, people's houses, bakery, shops)
- main buildings to focus on are: the factory, the salt production station, the old Tabbacco factory
- the Solvay factory is going to be demolished in about 2 moths in order to build an industrial park
- what I'm trying to say is that this place will vanish and my project might be the last proper documentation of the buildings before it's gone
- I went and took photos of the exterior but guard told me that I wasn't allowed to be there
- got in touch with the director to the factory and managed to gain access to the interior of the factory for 20 minutes.
- I will try and gain access once again but I'm not sure that I shall succeed the second time
- tutors mentioned that David Lynch series about factories is too generic so I need to find a way to make the images more personal (perhaps the editing of the photos and the text will help me do that)

Suggestions provided by tutors after a Skype Tutorial on 30th June 2014:
- focus on the idea of post-industrialism in Romania
- what the European Union means for Romania as opposed to what it means to countries like France or United Kingdom
- Romania in relation to Europe when it comes to economy
- read about economic psychology (the idea of Europe becoming a state - similar to the United States of America)
- Look at Paul Graham's project on the Dissolution of European Borders.
